"Monster Island's Monster Cold Wave" (怪獣島の大寒波, Kaijū-tō no Daikanpa, lit. "Monster Island's Cold Wave") is the 58th episode of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again and the 45th of its second season. Written by Taketo Shinkai and Yuki Hirokawa, it aired on Japanese television on February 5, 2025. An English-subtitled version was released on the GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO YouTube channel on that March 26.
Plot
Chibi Ghidorah, Chibi Mechagodzilla, and Chibi Minilla watch a snow-covered Chibi Godzilla shivering in the cold as they stand in the snowy weather outside. Chibi Godzilla says he's so cold he can't speak, and Chibi Ghidorah remembers that Chibi Godzilla doesn't do well in the cold. Chibi Godzilla suddenly defrosts and pulls out a book and pointer, cheerfully explaining that big monsters also do poorly with the cold while listing some examples from the Godzilla franchise. Chibi Mechagodzilla tells him he seems to have no problem when talking about something he likes, and Chibi Godzilla tells him anything else makes him shiver, reverting back to being coated in snow. Chibi Mechagodzilla notes that a cold wave like this only hits Monster Island once a decade, making Chibi Godzilla feel even colder. Chibi Minilla also admits she's not good with the cold either, though not to the extent of Chibi Godzilla. Chibi Ghidorah asks Chibi Mechagodzilla how he does with the cold, which Chibi Mechagodzilla says makes him run better since he's a robot. Chibi Godzilla asks for a bonfire, but is shivering so hard nobody understands him and Chibi Minilla needs to translate. Chibi Mechagodzilla looks for something flammable, but the moment he turns his head Chibi Godzilla breathes fire on him, fake-apologizing after Chibi Mechagodzilla rages. Chibi Godzilla breathes a much smaller blast at a pile of twigs, lighting a fire warm enough for him to speak normally. The fire quickly begins going out, and Chibi Godzilla shivers so hard he's completely incoherent to all but Chibi Minilla, who relays that Chibi Godzilla wants Chibi Mechagodzilla's third plate to be pressed so he fires a beam. Chibi Ghidorah asks how she's understanding him while Chibi Mechagodzilla tries to remind her it's the Absolute Zero Cannon, but she fires it before he can finish, putting out the fire completely. Chibi Godzilla violently shakes and starts to freeze over, saying the only way to stop it is with a bowl of hot soup. Chibi Mechagodzilla asks where they'll get soup from before Chibi Godzilla presses his dorsal fin, causing Chibi Mechagodzilla to produce a microwaved bowl of hot soup, a feature he forgotten he had. Chibi Godzilla drinks the soup while Chibi Mechagodzilla asks if they can go home now. Chibi Godzilla announces he can breathe an even bigger heat ray now that he's energized and chars Chibi Mechagodzilla with a huge blast of fire before trying to brush it off as an accident. Chibi Mechagodzilla fires the Absolute Zero Cannon at him in retaliation, completely freezing Chibi Godzilla over. He then turns away, coldly telling him to hibernate until spring. Chibi Godzilla suddenly moves from his frozen position, remarking that it's exactly like the ending scene in Shin Godzilla where Godzilla is frozen, prompting Chibi Mechagodzilla to exclaim that no amount of ice could freeze Chibi Godzilla's "motormouth."
