Chibi Anguirus (ちびアンギラス Chibi Angirasu) is a juvenile kaiju who first appeared in the 2019 children's book Close Friends, Chibi Godzilla. A spiky monster with the ability to curl into a ball, Chibi Anguirus is a close friend of Chibi Godzilla and his other friends.
Name
Chibi Anguirus' name comes from placing chibi (ちび), a Japanese word meaning "little," in front of Anguirus' name.
Design
Chibi Anguirus has bluish-green skin, with a carapace covered in gray spikes and five yellow horns atop his head and another yellow horn on his nose.
Personality
Chibi Anguirus is a friend of Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Ghidorah, Chibi Mothra, Chibi Rodan, and the Chibi Mechagodzilla Brothers. He admires Chibi Godzilla and his ability to breathe fire.

Chibi Godzilla Raids Again
"The Roaring Dragon, Chibi Anguirus"
While Chibi Godzilla was teaching Chibi Mechagodzilla about hunting on Monster Island, Chibi Mechagodzilla ended up caught in a bear trap that the former had set. Chibi Mechagodzilla suddenly heard the loud frightening roars of an approaching kaiju and was scared out of his wits until seeing that they belonged to small monster. Chibi Godzilla introduced the monster as Chibi Anguirus, explaining that his voice change has left him only able to communicate in roars incomprehensible to the chibi monsters. Chibi Mechagodzilla asked how they could even communicate while Chibi Godzilla explained he mostly just guesstimates, with his flimsy attempts at translation frustrating Chibi Mechagodzilla. Chibi Godzilla then had the idea of having the Shobijin use their telepathy to translate, but their attempts proved to be just as inaccurate as Chibi Godzilla's. After Chibi Anguirus repeatedly denied the supposed translations of the Shobijin and Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mechagodzilla theorized that Chibi Anguirus had come to free him from the trap, only for Chibi Anguirus to once more reject the suggestion.
"All Chibi Monsters Attack"
Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Ghidorah, and Chibi Anguirus destroyed a model city in Chibi Mechagodzilla's cabin, much to the robot's dismay. Chibi Ghidorah and Chibi Anguirus both apologized for their actions, pacifying Chibi Mechagodzilla, who forgave them. Chibi Godzilla then got Chibi Mechagodzilla to leave by telling him they would clean up the mess, though this proved to be another ruse as he planned to wreck even more of the city and proceeded to tempt the other monsters with more destruction. Before they could initiate their second assault, however, the enraged Chibi Mechagodzilla caught them and blasted the trio with his eye beams before ordering them to fix what they could.
"An All-Chibi Monster Chorus"
Chibi Anguirus joined several others on a trip to Chibi Biollante's bar, where Chibi Biollante informed Chibi Mechagodzilla that the establishment offered karaoke. Chibi Anguirus attempted to sing "Grandfather's Clock", but could only sing through roars. Eventually, Chibi Biollante recommended that they all sing a song together, with Chibi Godzilla selecting "Godzilla's Theme". Because the song had no lyrics, the group could only hum along, much to Chibi Mechagodzilla's annoyance. However, the group ultimately earned a perfect score on the karaoke machine's scoring system.
"Smartphones Are Handy"
Chibi Anguirus waited alongside Chibi Mechagodzilla, Chibi Mothra, and Chibi Rodan for Chibi Godzilla to arrive so that he could show them something. After Chibi Godzilla realized that the others couldn't hear him when he spoke to himself, Chibi Mechagodzilla gave smartphones to everyone present, including Chibi Anguirus, so they could communicate more easily. Chibi Anguirus later joined the others in announcing "Plan Smartphone" in lieu of actually doing anything they had previously planned, much to Chibi Mechagodzilla's confusion. Chibi Anguirus participated in the group chat the next day, announcing that he was running late and making fun of Chibi Mechagodzilla using the Japanese online slang "www".
"Dear Dad"
Chibi Anguirus, Chibi Mechagodzilla and Chibi Mothra listened to Chibi Godzilla as he told them about his struggles in writing a father's day card to his dad, Godzilla himself. Chibi Anguirus was unresponsive to his first attempt at writing a letter which consisted entirely of him thanking his dad for giving him multiple ways to say father, but roared a "tearful roar" at his second attempt in which he admitted he had no clue what his dad was saying to him in their conversations. Chibi Anguirus was unresponsive to his third successful attempt which Godzilla heard and threw a fish to Chibi Godzilla as a way of telling him to grow big and strong.
"Mr. Hedo's Lecture"
Chibi Anguirus joined Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mechagodzilla, Chibi Ghidorah, and Chibi Mothra for another lesson in growing up to become giant monsters, responding enthusiastically to Chibi Godzilla's words until it was revealed their teacher for the day would be Chibi Hedorah, who was infamous for long and boring lessons. Chibi Anguirus listened in boredom as Chibi Hedorah taught them about various mistakes humans have made, listing insignificant examples such as ordering unlimited drinks but only being able to finish one due to being too full up. After two hours of the lesson, Chibi Anguirus was still listening in incredible boredom but eventually collapsed alongside Chibi Mothra and Chibi Ghidorah, roaring a "roar of unbearable ennui" as he did so. Chibi Anguirus remained in this state even as Chibi Hedorah continued to speak.
"Find Nessie"
While preparing to search a lake on Monster Island to find Nessie, Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mechagodzilla, Chibi Ghidorah, Chibi Mothra and Chibi Rodan heard mysterious roaring. Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Ghidorah wondered if it was Nessie roaring but quickly realized it was actually just Chibi Anguirus. The group were disappointed by this and Chibi Anguirus left as soon as he appeared.
"First Date Butterflies"
While Chibi Mechagodzilla and Chibi Mothra were touring Chibi Mothra's favorite spots together, they arrived at Chibi Gabara's restaurant only to find a state of complete chaos. Chibi Anguirus was arguing with Chibi Rodan as he divebombed into his seat while Chibi Godzilla waited for his food and Chibi Gabara was doing nothing helpful as usual. Chibi Anguirus remained angry and ignored the conversation around him in which Chibi Godzilla brought up an alleged duel between Chibi Mechagodzilla and Chibi Mothra. Chibi Anguirus continued to ignore this as the two of them left the restaurant to the next place on their tour.
"Chibi Anguirus' True Feelings"
Chibi Anguirus stared down at the meal Chibi Godzilla had ordered for him in complete disgust: a fried remote control and medium spicy pudding. Chibi Mechagodzilla commented that he looked angry and asked Chibi Godzilla if that was really what he wanted, which Chibi Godzilla confirmed despite Chibi Mechagodzilla being skeptical due to Chibi Anguirus' obvious anger. As Chibi Mechagodzilla continued to question this, Chibi Godzilla claimed he and Chibi Anguirus were soul-bonded and could understand him with little difficulty. Chibi Anguirus roared in disagreement which Chibi Godzilla somehow managed to translate as Chibi Anguirus wanted to eat the Chewing Gum Bowl, further angering Chibi Anguirus.
While at his home, Chibi Mechagodzilla checked his social media out of boredom and saw a post from Chibi Anguirus complaining about Chibi Godzilla's taste despite claiming he doesn't care though he did admit he enjoyed the Chewing Gum Bowl, with Chibi Mechagodzilla questioning how it was even edible. Chibi Anguirus then responded to a post from Chibi Godzilla saying he realized he wanted an extra spicy pudding instead by calling him absolutely useless and apparently blocking him. Chibi Rodan then made a post in which he claimed to have stopped a "hooligan" chatting up a "shop girl" by annoying the hooligan away, with Chibi Anguirus dismissing this as a lie and calling Chibi Rodan "a try-hard drama-bird", making Chibi Mechagodzilla comment on him coming off aggressive online. Chibi Godzilla then made a post in which he commented that tone and nuance can get lost online and so it is better to talk in person, inviting Chibi Anguirus to eat with him at the restaurant. Chibi Mechagodzilla agreed with this sentiment, though noted Chibi Anguirus, who is incapable of speech, to be an exception. Chibi Mechagodzilla contemplated if he should speak to Chibi Godzilla.
Later in the day, having decided not to bother trying to talk sense into Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mechagodzilla checked his social media. He saw a post from Chibi Anguirus talking about how they ate random garbage once again and how it was admittedly quite fun, with Chibi Mechagodzilla relieved they were able to get along. He then saw a post from Chibi Anguirus questioning Chibi Godzilla's interest in deep-fried remotes, with Chibi Mechagodzilla commenting that now they were "speaking the same language".

Close Friends, Chibi Godzilla
When feeling lonely, Chibi Godzilla set out to look for friends, encountering Chibi Anguirus along with Chibi Mothra, Chibi Rodan, and Chibi Ghidorah. Chibi Godzilla remarked that Chibi Anguirus was covered in "cool" spikes. When the other monsters asked what Chibi Godzilla could do, he responded saying he could breathe fire and exhaled a blast of fire at them, prompting them to flee. While running after them, Chibi Godzilla's fire breath caused fruit to fall out of a nearby tree. He asked the other monsters to share the fruit with him, and they all ate until they were full. Chibi Godzilla was no longer lonely as he befriended the other monsters.

Roar
In Chibi Godzilla Raids Again, due to hitting puberty, Chibi Anguirus roars instead of speaking like the other monsters. He uses the same roars as Anguirus from Godzilla Raids Again, which were created using a saxophone.[1]
