Dilophosaurus is a carnivorous theropod dinosaur that first appeared in the 14th episode of Kong: King of the Apes, titled "The Primordial World Below".
Appearance
The Dilophosaurus in Kong: King of the Apes appear radically different from both their real-life counterparts and other fictional depictions. It is portrayed as an enormous theropod resembling Tyrannosaurus rex or Allosaurus with a single thick crest on its snout as well as an armored brow ridge that protrudes into horns past the back of its head and a downwards-pointing spike on its chin, none of which the real animal had. Additionally, its body is countershaded, the underside being light orange and progressing until it reaches dark brown around its upper jaw and back. The Dilophosaurus appears to be fused with stone, possessing deep brown and black lumps of rock-like armor all over its back, and replacing its crests, teeth, and claws.

Francisca, Lukas, and Danny plummeted into a volcano, where they disturbed a Dilophosaurus. Before the dinosaur could attack them, Kong appeared and fought it off.
Trivia
- Ironically, the Dilophosauruses in Kong: King of the Apes have only one crest, making them more similar to Monolophosaurus jiangi, another Jurassic Period theropod.
