"The Beast of Storm Island" is the 17th episode of Godzilla and the fourth episode of Season 2.

Plot

The Calico is caught in a freak storm off the coast of Canada. While trying to navigate through the storm, Brock informs Majors of a nearby island known as "Storm Island," which has an atoll where the ship could stop for shelter. Majors sets course for the island, and after some navigational assistance from Brock, the crew safely reaches Storm Island. Upon arrival, Pete and Majors notice an abundance of abandoned ships scattered on the shore. Suddenly, a man runs out of a forest into the water, waving and screaming for help. After being rescued by Godzooky, the man tells the crew to leave the island immediately before "Axor the All-Powerful" finds them. Before anyone can react, Axor, having followed after the man, appears from behind a mountain. Targeting the Calico, Axor attacks them with his energy bolts, but Quinn manages to call upon Godzilla for assistance. Godzilla and Axor engage in a fierce battle as the Calico manages to escape from Axor's ambush. During his battle with Godzilla, however, Axor notices the crew escaping and the monster strikes the escapee with a beam from his eyes, sending the man into shock before he can tell the Calico crew about himself or Axor. Axor then disengages Godzilla and flees. As the crew thanks Godzilla for his assistance, Majors sets a new course for the mainland to get help for the man.

That night, the man, now in a hypnotic state, awakens from his shock and hijacks the Calico, overpowering Brock and turning its course back towards Storm Island. The next morning, the crew awakens to find that the ship has been run aground and the man is missing. Majors, Quinn, and Brock head out to explore Storm Island in search of the man and whatever else the island is hiding, leaving behind due to Pete and Godzooky them both having a cold and the latter laryngitis, rendering him voiceless. While exploring, Majors, Quinn, and Brock discover a giant temple and dozens of people building it, all hypnotized survivors of other shipwrecks. Before the trio can get a closer look, they are noticed by the man and several other hypnotized people, who capture them and destroy the Godzilla Signal, preventing them from calling for help.

Back on the Calico, Pete and Godzooky play with a frisbee to pass the time. While playing, they climb onto a rock that gives them a clear view of the temple, as well as hiding them from a group of hypnotized slaves en route to the Calico to capture them. Pete and Godzooky also overhear that Majors, Quinn, and Brock were captured and head to the temple to search for them. Upon entering, Pete and Godzooky witness Majors, Quinn, and Brock all being confronted and hypnotized by Axor. Realizing his friends are in danger, Godzooky tries to call Godzilla for help, but his laryngitis prevents him from doing so and only succeeds in alerting Axor to their presence. Though the monster attempts to enslave them too, Pete and Godzooky manage to escape the temple back to the Calico to try and escape Storm Island themselves. Just as Godzooky manages to get the ship back into the water, Axor arrives with a posse of slaves and beaches the ship again with his hurricane winds.

Pete and Godzooky find the hypnotized Majors, Quinn, and Brock, who capture Pete and bring him back to the temple to be hypnotized. Several other slaves attempt to capture Godzooky in a net, but he flies away. Godzooky follows them back to the temple and infiltrates it. As Pete is brought before Axor, the monster fires his hypnotic ray at Pete, only to discover that he is completely immune to its effects thanks to his head cold blocking out the hypnosis. Godzooky also appears and scoops up Pete, running through the temple as Axor gives chase. The pair hide inside of a giant pit releasing glowing vapor, which Axor stops in front of and inhales. Pete realizes that not only does Axor likely gain his powers from the vapor, but that the temple was built around the pit to protect it from outside invaders. Pete and Godzooky are exposed to the vapor, curing them of their colds and giving them super-strength, but Axor notices them and attempts to crush them. Godzooky flies out to distract Axor, harassing him with blasts of fire and attempting to pick up the far larger monster, while Pete leaps out of the well. However, the vapor's powers quickly wear off, and Godzooky, now cured of his laryngitis, calls for Godzilla as Axor corners them.

Godzilla hears the call and makes landfall, lumbering deeper into Storm Island, while Axor hears Godzilla's footsteps and heads off to confront him. Meeting in a village built for Axor's slaves, Godzilla and Axor roar at each other before Godzilla charges. Axor attempts to keep him at bay with his ranged attacks, but Godzilla gets close enough to a melee and grapples with Axor. During their fight, Godzilla's tail slams into the side of Axor's temple and crumbles it. A panicked Axor breaks off the fight entirely and tries to clear the debris, but is forced back in by Godzilla's fire breath. Enraged, Axor tries to hypnotize Godzilla, but the King of the Monsters shrugs it off. Godzilla corners Axor against a cliffside and breathes fire at him, but Axor dodges. The heat from Godzilla's blast turns the stone to a mirror, which Axor throws Godzilla against after another grapple before firing his slave ray at him again. Godzilla sidesteps out of the way and Axor's ray reflects off the mirror, striking him instead and making him disappear. With Axor's death, the Calico crew and everyone else on the island are freed from Axor's control. The crew then leaves Storm Island, informing Axor's former slaves that they'll head to Canada to send for help.
