Bullmark

Toho Monster Series

  • Gabara (1969, 1970)
Three known variations of the Bullmark Gabara.

The first known piece of Gabara merchandise was the Bullmark vinyl figure, released in 1969/1970. Standing at around 9” tall, it is a stylized representation of the character’s appearance in All Monsters Attack. Stylistic of most soft vinyl figures of the era, each individual figure features a distinct paint spray essentially making each figure one of a kind. The bottom of each figure’s foot features the stamp of the Bullmark company, though some releases have the Marusan logo instead. The Bullmark-stamped releases were molded in a light blue vinyl whereas the Marusan-stamped ones were cast in beige.

Like most new mold Bullmark figures, it was originally planned for release by Marusan until the company’s closure, with former employees starting Bullmark soon after and acquiring the molds in the process.

This mold has been reissued by the modern re-launched Bullmark and M1-Go featuring new and vintage-inspired color schemes.
